At Electrical Goodness we save old iPods headed for e-waste and turn them into your new music companion

We open every donor, replace all the important bits, listen to them and send them out to you. Follow along as we get an iPod ready for its new home

The Operation

We open every donor we purchase or acquire, while inside we remove;

  • The old spinning HDD

  • The old (usually expanding) battery

  • The old front and rear shell

We check the board, the buttons and the connections to ensure working order before adding our SSD and Battery to make it new again.

All devices that don’t pass our inspection become donors for the next iPod and will live on in some form or another.

The Unboxing Experience

All our iPod’s are sent in fully recycled cardboard mailers, with paper packaging. Save for the plastic that comes on the iPod shells themselves.

Inside you will find;

  • A thankyou card, with instructions on the back for updating Rockbox + Themes

  • An iPod 30-Pin to USB cable

  • Your refurbished iPod

We made the choice to not include a cheap set of earpods that you will likely throw out anyway, keep an eye out on our store for IEM’s coming very soon!

The Big Picture

We don’t do used re-sale, we do full and complete refurbishment and we do it with all three popular models, iPod 5th & 7th Generation as well as iPod Mini.

Every refurb gets;

  • A new battery

  • New flash storage

  • New shell (front and back)

  • Rockbox (for use without iTunes + FLAC support)

Loading Rockbox

When you get your Refurbished iPod, we want you to be able to plug it in and use it straight away.

Every iPod is formatted for Windows;

  • We load the Opensource software called “Rockbox” onto it.

  • Rockbox supports drag and drop functionality and adds support for more music files such FLAC lossless.

  • We load a test song to ensure everything is working and load an iPod-Like skin so the experience is as you remember

Feel free to follow the instructions that come on your welcome card to install more themes and customise the interface to your liking!
